Short Break Holiday2012 Price €730
Discounts for groups of six or more. No set start dates just let us know when you'd like to travel.
A four days' tour of some of the best wildlife sites in South Iceland. Accommodation in comfortable rural hotels or guesthouses with excellent bird watching locations nearby.
Clients will see the Icelandic bird specialities, including harlequins and Barrow's goldeneye, and experience a little of the volcanic landscapes that make travelling here so spectacular. There is also the chance to take a whale-watching boat trip with a high probability of encountering minke whales and white-beaked dolphins. You'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist who will take you to some very special places. This tour is popular with clients who'd also like to spend some time travelling on their own as they find the first few days being shown around puts things in context, and allows them to make better use of their time when travelling independently.
We've found this trip popular with transatlantic travellers who break their journey for a few days in Iceland.
One Week Trip2012 Price €1470
Discounts for groups of six or more. No set start dates just let us know when you'd like to travel.
An eight days' (seven nights) introduction to Iceland's natural history with various itineraries available. For example, spend four nights in a comfortable South Iceland rural guesthouse with excellent bird watching locations nearby, then two nights on the Westman Islands and finally a night in Reykjavík. Alternatively, travel to the Snæfellsnes peninsula for three nights before visiting southern Iceland and the Westman Islands. Travel in spring or autumn for migrants or high summer when the seabird colonies are in full swing and take a whale-watching trip as well. Whatever you choose this is a wonderful introduction to Iceland.
Ten Days’ Tour2012 Price €1965
Discounts for groups of six or more. No set start dates just let us know when you'd like to travel.
With 10 days at your disposal then you’ve the flexibility to see much of the best that Iceland has to offer. A popular itinerary starts with three nights in the South of Iceland, followed by three nights in Snæfellsnes, arguably one of the most beautiful parts of Iceland. There is a chance to go whale watching here with a high probability of encountering minke whales, humpback whales and orcas. Finally, we spend three nights in North Iceland including visits to Lake Mývatn, one of the world's most spectacular wildfowl watching locations. Clients will see all Icelandic bird specialities and have the chance to record much of botanical and geological interest as well. On these tours we also suggest that clients think about travelling across the remote interior of Iceland – an adventurous and spectacular journey. Of course, lots of other options are available, too. You may prefer to travel to the fjordic coastline of NW Iceland or explore the glaciers of SE Iceland. You choose.
Our group trips are fully inclusive. This means:
Firstly, you'll be accompanied by a knowledgeable, reliable and friendly guide. This is perhaps the most important ingredient for a successful naturalists' trip.
Secondly, you'll be transported in a comfortable vehicle which is fit for purpose on the rough Icelandic roads. For smaller groups this means a 4x4 which is great for getting to some out-of-the-way places. Larger groups travel in a roomy minibus with plenty of space for tripods, optics and camera gear.
Thirdly, it's worth remembering that the costs mentioned here are fully inclusive of accommodation (twin share) and all meals. To give you some idea of the added value of this approach you'd need to budget around 4.500kr to 5.500kr for an evening meal in Iceland together with perhaps 2.000kr for lunch. So beware of this when choosing your holiday!
